Moon, the crypto-payment startup is based in New York with a total of 3 employees. The firm has funding of only $100,000 invested by the Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator. Moon browser is only available on Opera, Brave and Google Chrome. The popular stores such as eBay, Aliexpress, Dominos’, Target, and Etsy are the prospects to launch such support in addition to AMAZON.
The startup announced on Monday, 22nd April that whichever crypto wallets are supported by the lightning network will be accessible through browser extension of Moon. However, around 250 beta users have already spent cryptocurrency e-commerce sites by using Moon. Therefore, from 24th April onwards the payments can be made using crypto applications, on Amazon.
According to revenue and market capitalization, Amazon.com Inc. is the largest e-commerce platform based in Seattle, U.S. The multinational technology serves as a cloud computing platform and focussed on artificial intelligence (A.I.). Founded on July 5, 1994, the company was established as an online bookstore but eventually extended by selling audio books, video games, electronics and much more. It is considered to be the 2nd largest employer in the U.S.
The CEO at Moon, Ken Kruger said:
“The extension will pop up a QR code, and it will have the lightning invoice, which you could also copy and paste if you can’t use the QR code for some reason. And you’ll be able to pay with your favourite lightning wallet.”
Amazon will not directly receive Bitcoin; instead it will first be converted into fiat. On the other hand, Ken Kruger refused to share the exact details about how will Moon carry out the conversion process. He also predicted that lightning-enabled feature would be facilitated on most of the e-commerce platform, by the year 2020. He also underlined that the execution of launching such support has become feasible only because of the venture between VISA and Mastercard.
